“Education is a journey; it’s not about how you start but how you finish” B.C. Forbes. This quote conceptualizes my journey thus far. I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in athletic leadership. Also, I am a member of the nationally renowned “Call Me MISTER” Program. I have completed continuing education courses at The Citadel, and I am currently pursing a master’s degree from Southern Wesleyan University in Education Administration and Supervision.
So far my greatest accomplishment in education has been helping my students experience success, helping my students see beyond today, and instilling in my students the spirit of determination to overcome present obstacles. I will never forget the enthusiasm and joy my academic teams expressed when they won 1st place at South Carolina Odyssey of the Mind State tournament. My academic team went on and competed in the World Finals for Odyssey of the Mind for two year straight. Also, I experience success daily when I see my students learn the information I teach. Some of the greatest rewards in my teaching career have been when students come back and visit me years after having been in my class, or call me to say they are going to college or into the military. This proves that I am a great educator, leader, and friend and have touched their lives in some way. Knowing that I gave my students the academic skills necessary to experience that success; has been the greatest experience of my life, as well as to date, my greatest accomplishment in education. An individual once said that “it is important that you recognize your progress and take pride in your accomplishments, share your achievements with others, brag a little. The recognition and support of those around you is nurturing“.
